Weapons confiscation/control is the lepers bell of dictatorship. Dictators and occupation forces in enemy territory make no pretense about demonstrating “who’s boss” or risking armed resistance from their captive populations.

A documented incident in WWII history echoes into and highlights our current political divide: one party’s top priority is overriding the 2^nd Constitutional Amendment, confiscating all US citizens’ weapons—and the other party whose top priority is attacking crime and criminals while essentially upholding the Constitutional right of all law-abiding American citizens to keep and bear weapons, even those with potential military or paramilitary capability.
